Vasant Panchmi has a very special place in my life. We celebrate it as a day devoted to Goddess Saraswati, Goddess of all types of arts, literature, music, knowledge, intellectuality and every other related forms. During my initial days of studies, we used to celebrate annual function of our school on this holy day. It was the first platform where I realised that I can do something in the field of art and literature. I used to take part in dramas and recite poems during that function. This festival not only formed an unbreakable bond between me and my school but also improved me as a person. Other than school related activities, we used to perform pooja at night and it was a symbol of cultural and social harmony.
I miss those days and express my great concern over the changing mindset of today’s youth. It has deviated a lot from it’s cultural values. Besides of that, it has missed the lesson of social values due to extensive engagement with technology rather than human interaction. There are so many people in my facebook list who never preferred to have face to face talk with me but they expressed interest in being my facebook friend for nothing useful.
Let’s not forget that we are a human and we incepted technology for use of humanity and not to be a slave of it. May Goddess Saraswati bless the world with sense of responsibility towards family, friends, relationships and social values.
